Branding

Sap Run 5K Marketing

BACKGROUND

Our neighborhood community council holds an annual Sap Run 5K and breakfast event every year to raise money. I was tasked with creating a unified marketing campaign/brand redesign. This would hopefully attract more participants, as well as set styling up for future marketing campaigns.

EXPLORE

Redesigned Logo

The original Sap Run logo was created over 10 years prior, and indicated sap from a maple tree, as well as a wooden background. I set out to modernize the logo, by keeping the sap droplet, but introducing a simple bucket to collect the sap.

Fonts & Colors

The neighborhood that hosts the 5K — Kennedy Heights — primarily uses shades of team and orange as their color scheme. I decided to incorporate a darker shade of teal that would fit well with the sap-colored droplet that I wanted to keep. I chose a wide, sans serif font to compliment the neighborhood’s serif font.

CREATING A STYLE GUIDE

Social Media

All social media posts used graphics that were designed using the above style guide. The campaign leading up to the event included a mixture of promotional material (swag/merch callouts), informational pieces, and funny/meme content.

Clothing & Print Material

Past Sap Runs had purchasable t-shirts and used generic runners’ bibs. To keep with the brand, I redesigned the t-shirts and bibs to match the new logo and social media posts.
